“Look sharp”
“They might not work for you”
Being a large guy doesn’t always mean that you’re fat. That might have something to do with it, but it can also lend itself to having broad shoulders, a barrel chest, or even just a wide ass. Keep that in mind when you head to the big and tall section of your store. You might just need the tall with a little tailoring to even out the big.
Fit is the first thing that you should be looking at when trying on clothes. Anything that has weird wrinkles, bulges, slouches, or other odd “es” should be avoided. All that they’re going to do is make your outline look floppy and sad. In fact, you’ll probably look bigger than you actually are. Clothes that fit closely to the body are going to be more comfortable and look better. Those two factors largely play into how you feel. You guessed it, feeling is important too. Not to get all sentimental here but confidence doesn’t come from making it up. You’ve got to rock it because you actually feel confident. That might be a little hard to do when looking for clothes right off of the rack. To really get a good fit that will impress a woman you’ve got to go to a tailor. Once you find something you like buy it in as close a size as you can get. Going smaller will cost more, so if you really must go the next size up and have him take it down. This really only costs $10-$20. It might not seem fair to have to pay more to wear what everyone else is, but that’s just the reality of it.
“You will look great”
It doesn’t matter that the weather in Ottawa gets cold as hell, you keep those layers light. Lighter clothing that’s not a thick material is going to keep you looking your size. Adding on heavy layers to fight the cold is only going to make you look like you’re a big pillow. Put on as many light layers as you can to keep warm in hopes of not fluffing up too much. Another downside of having a thick jacket is that you’re probably going to trap in heat. Trapped heat loves nothing more than to get your armpits all sorts of sweaty. That’s not sexy when you’re trying to go out and get a woman’s attention. It’s going to make you look like a slob.
All of these rules aren’t going to mean jack if you can’t actually figure out what you should be wearing. There’s a good side to this and a bad side, but you’re not going to hook-up with anyone wearing bad clothes. To put a better fit with simple style onto your body you should invest in:
Suits are the fanciest pieces of clothing that you can get, but also fit the best. They have a close cut jacket (that should still be able to button) and fitted trousers. They’re going to streamline you from top to bottom.
Blazers can also be fancy, but lend themselves to casual really well. When you want to meet somewhere in the middle take a nice pair of jeans and pair them with a blazer. Suddenly you’re hip, but not too hip.
You’d better not put these bad habits into action.
These are a nightmare for a bigger guy. They don’t fold well on the body, bag everywhere, and never have any sort of construction to them. They’re like throwing a towel around your waist and calling it good.
Having a baggy shirt on top is terrible for the same reasons as the gym shorts mentioned above. A large amount of skin from a t-shirt and shorts combo is going to draw attention to your center. That emphasizes your flub and generally makes for unhappiness. Avoid it altogether.
